Autumn is approaching – is your vehicle ready? We have a few tips from our Chrysler service technicians at Cook Chrysler Dodge RAM on how to prepare your vehicle for fall – and the cold months to follow.

Change Your Oil

Routine oil changes are an important part of your vehicle’s maintenance. Your engine’s oil helps lubricate the parts under your hood to reduce excess heat and friction. If you haven’t had a recent oil change, now is a good time to get one scheduled.

Inspect Your Heater

We all know you don’t want to wait for one of our cold winter days to realize your heater isn’t functioning properly. Double-check its condition now. Make sure it is clean too, as well as your cabin’s air filter.

Visit the Carwash

A clean car doesn’t just look good. It’s also important to rid the dust and debris from your vehicle, which can lead to corrosion. It’s always a good idea to give your cabin and good cleaning too. Consider switching your floor mats out to all-season mats to protect them this winter.

Check Your Tires

Adequate tread is crucial as the weather cools down and the streets get slicker and slicker. It’s also important to ensure your tires are properly inflated as cold weather can affect their inflation. Don’t forget to have your tires rotated as well.

Inspect Your Battery

Batteries are typically meant to last approximately six years. However, there are lots of factors that can decrease that, including extreme temperatures. Make sure to inspect your battery this fall, so you aren’t – quite literally – left out in the cold.
