Engine Options 

New RAM trucks have long been celebrated for their powerful engines, and the RAM 1500 certainly deserves praise in this regard. Here are the engines you’ll find in the pickup’s lineup and their respective outputs: 

  • 3.6-liter V6 engine, 305 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque 
  • 5.7-liter V8 engine, 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque 
  • Supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque 

Every engine pairs with a slick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel drive is standard for most trims, with four-wheel drive offered as an option. The RAM 1500 TRX is only available with four-wheel drive. 

Capabilities and Handling 

Available in a quad or crew cab and either a five-foot seven-inch or six-foot four-inch bed, the RAM 1500 is a versatile pickup. With the appropriate equipment, the truck can tow up to 12,750 lb and haul as much as 2,300 lb.  

Unlike many of its rivals, the RAM 1500 has a standard coil spring suspension instead of a leaf-spring setup. That suspension or the optional air spring suspension absorb road imperfections smoothly. The truck’s steering is light, and it provides ample feedback. 

Standard Equipment 

As you likely guessed, the RAM 1500 is loaded with desirable features that include an available 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth® connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system. Heated, power-adjustable mirrors, keyless entry, and trailer sway damping are also standard.
